Gibberellic Acid Ga3
Description
Gibberellic acid (GA3) is a naturally occurring plant hormone that plays a significant role in regulating various aspects of plant growth and development. In agriculture, GA3 is used for its diverse effects
Mode of Action
One of the primary effects of GA3 is the promotion of stem elongation. It does so by stimulating cell division and elongation in the internodes, the sections of stem between nodes. This is particularly beneficial for crops where increased stem length is desired, such as in certain fruits and vegetables.
Applications
GA3 is often used to break seed dormancy, particularly in seeds that require stratification or cold treatment for germination. GA3 promotes the synthesis of enzymes that degrade inhibitors of germination, allowing the seed to germinate more readily under favorable conditions.
