KOH (Potassium Hydrochloride)
Description
Potassium hydroxide is used to adjust and regulate the pH of soil. KOH is used to produce fertilizers by supplying potassium (one of the major plant foods) to crops, especially to those crops which cannot tolerate chloride ions. It detoxifies glycerin so that it can be used in animal feed.
Mode of Action
Potassium chloride provides essential potassium, a macronutrient crucial for various physiological processes in plants. Potassium plays a vital role in enzyme activation, osmoregulation, and photosynthesis, contributing to overall plant growth and development.
Applications
Potassium hydroxide is a strong base that dissociates in water to release hydroxide ions (OH^-). This results in an alkaline solution, which can help to neutralize acids and adjust pH levels in various applications.
